The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program is the only passive investment program currently available to investors looking to immigrate to the Canada with their families. The Federal government previously offered its own iteration of the ‘Investor Program’, however it has been closed since 2014.
To be eligible for the Investor Program, you must:
- Have legally acquired net worth of C$2,000,000, excluding any amounts received by donation less than six months before your application is submitted. Your spouse’s assets can be included.
- Have management experience for at least two years in the five years preceding your application. This experience must include duties related to the planning, management and control of financial, human or material resources under your authority of supervision.
- Intend to settle in Québec. This means proving to reviewing officers that you will settle in the province of Québec if and when your permanently immigrate to Canada.
- Make a five-year term investment of C$1,200,000 with Investissement Québec – Immigrants Investisseurs Inc.
You must demonstrate the origin and accumulation of your wealth through reliable third-party documentary evidence such as tax returns, pay stubs, deed of purchase/sale, bank statements, statements from stock broker, business and real estate valuation. You must be able to prove that your assets were gained through means, which are considered legal including gifts and inheritance.
The application for permanent residence generally includes the applicant, spouse or common-law partner or conjugal partner and dependent children under the age of 22 years. Children over the age of 22 may be included provided they are still at continues education, dependent and unmarried.
