ABOUT THE START-UP VISA (SUV) IMMIGRATION PROGRAM
Canada’s new Start-Up Visa is the first of its kind in the world, linking immigrant entrepreneurs with experienced private sector organizations that have expertise in working with start-ups. Unlike programs in other countries, Canada does not provide “temporary” or “conditional” status. Successful applicants to this program will be able to immediately apply for permanent residence if they secure a commitment from a designated Canadian private sector organization.
Requirements
To be eligible for the Start-up Visa Program, you must:
Obtain a commitment from a designated entity in the form of a Commitment Certificate and Letter of Support;
Have sufficient unencumbered, available and transferable settlement funds (amounts updated each year);
Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English or French through standardized testing (CLB 5)
Have Medical and Criminal Clearance
To qualify for this program, you must obtain a commitment from a designated entity in the form of a Commitment Certificate and Letter of Support
Venture Capital Funds
You must get at least one of these groups to agree to invest a minimum of $200,000. Venture capital funds are pooled investment funds that manage the money of investors
Angel Investor Groups
You must an Angel Investor to invest at least $75,000. An angel investor is a high-net-worth individual who provides financial backing for small startups or entrepreneurs.
